Los Caminos Modern Cocina will expand Lakeside’s dining footprint across FM 2499 with the addition of what will be the community’s 18th restaurant/eatery. Construction on Los Caminos, Modern Cocina began earlier this month at the southeast corner of Lakeside and 2499 (880 International Pkwy).
Expect a Modern Mexican menu featuring coastal-influenced cuisine such as wood-roasted oysters, lobster fajitas, and fresh fish in addition to hand-cut steaks and moles. The extensive bar will offer an upscale mix of tequilas and mezcals along with many fine wines and beers of Mexico and South America.
“The menu capitalizes on our executive chef’s experience,” explained Jeffrey Denmon, of Suburban Life Hospitality Group, who will operate the establishment. “He has been the head chef for large restaurants in culinary destinations like New York City, Las Vegas, and the Bahamas.”
The spacious dining room, lively bar, and climate-controlled, covered patio (featuring two large fireplaces) are designed to capture the feel of “an elegantly style hacienda and immerse guests in the rich culture and lifestyle of coastal Mexico. We hope the interior evokes memories of resorts in Tulum and Cabo San Lucas.”
In all, the restaurant’s footprint will measure approximately 7,500 sf with approximately 1,800 sf of the total devoted to patio dining.
The location in Lakeside appears to be a perfect match for Los Caminos, added Denmon, who has a wealth of restaurant experience in the DFW restaurant market and beyond.
“The drive-by traffic on FM 2499 is outstanding,” he said, “and the centralized location offers easy access for customers coming from Coppell to Southlake, Grapevine to Highland Shores. It’s also a proven location with Lakeside’s 40+ shops and restaurants, including several of the highest grossing restaurants in Flower Mound. And the association with Lakeside and its mix of small, locally owned businesses feels like joining a family, not just another shopping area.”
Los Caminos, which is expected to open in the fall of 2024, promises to complement Lakeside’s existing dining options.
The restaurant will be open seven days a week for lunch, dinner, and brunch on Sundays. “The bar and kitchen will stay open late on weekdays and even later on weekends, long after others have closed for the night,” Denmon noted.
“We’re looking forward to bringing the richness of Mexico’s kitchens to Flower Mound.”
