Egg Farm Cafe opened this past week in The Shops at Lakeside, offering a wide breakfast menu plus quick and friendly service.
Located in the space vacated by BurgerIM in the southwest quadrant of FM 2499 and Lakeside Parkway, Egg Farm serves both breakfast and lunch from opening to close (7 am to 2:30 pm). The light and airy space includes a small patio facing east.
“You can get anything on the menu at any time,” said Rocky Begaj, owner and operator. And the menu includes an astounding variety.
“We try to include a mix of items from both Europe and America,” Begaj explained. They deliver, from Belgian waffles to southern-inspired chicken and waffles, from crepes to migas, from cinnamon French toast to biscuits and gravy.
Or you can go healthy at Egg Farm Cafe with your choice of avocado toast, oatmeal, or the Iron Man Scrambler (egg whites, spinach, tomatoes, onions, and mushrooms with your choice of sliced avocado or fresh fruit).
The pancakes, French toast, and waffles come in gluten-free versions, if you wish.
“We have something for everyone,” Begaj added. The list of three-egg omelettes stretches from the American west to the Mediterranean.
Chorizo sausage stars in the Santa Fe omelette that includes diced jalapeños, onions, tomatoes, and cilantro with Monterrey Jack and cheddar cheese. Roasted red peppers share the stage with fresh spinach in the Tuscan omelette that also features onions, kalamata olives, and feta cheese.
Six more omelettes stand at the ready, should you need them to take the lead.
Eggs Benedict comes in four varieties — with smoked salmon, avocado, spinach, and the original — all with a generous serving of hollandaise sauce.
Meaty options abound. Don’t miss the steak ’n eggs or the Meat Lovers omelette.
The skillet dishes top off Egg Farm’s delicious hash browns —covered with Monterrey Jack and cheddar cheese — with two eggs (plus your choice of toast, biscuit, or pancakes).
Fresh-squeezed orange juice is available all day. (Note: While Egg Farm does not serve alcohol, BYOB for endless mimosas.)
The exquisite Segafredo coffee is ground on the premises and all varieties of coffee drinks are available.
You will find the lunch menu just as extensive and geographically diverse as the breakfast menu.
Among the salads, you can go from the Cajun Salmon Grilled Caesar salad to the Athens salad that features grilled chicken breast, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, feta cheese, kalamata olives, and Greek vinaigrette atop mixed spinach and romaine lettuce.
The 100-percent-angus-beef burgers weigh in at a half pound and are served with either soup, salad, fries, fried okra, or fresh fruit. Applewood bacon and avocado cap off the El Dorado burger that comes with Swiss cheese, mmm.
Egg Farm Cafe offers three “Southern Favorites”: chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, and chicken tenders.
The sandwiches cover all the bases, from grilled cheese, BLT (with avocado), and Reuben to chicken ranch, chicken salad, and the turkey club.
Among the three Greek wraps on the menu, the buffalo wrap stands out with its chicken tenders tossed in buffalo sauce with mixed greens, diced tomatoes, bleu cheese crumbles, and homemade ranch.
The turkey pesto panini features applewood smoked bacon, tomato, Monterrey Jack, and pesto mayo on ciabatta bread.
The Begaj family has owned and operated restaurants in Denton County for nearly 30 years.
Rocky’s brother, Biko Begaj, operates Eggspress Cafe on Justin Rd. in Highland Village, which opened in 2019.

I tried to recreate the smoked salmon eggs benedict at home with very little success! The salmon was wonderful, but you guys just do it so well. Will be stopping in soon!

Do y’all have other gluten free options besides the pancakes/waffles? For example GF bread/buns ?

Egg Farm does offer gluten-free bread and toast, but no GF buns.
