The landscape in Phase II of Lakeside’s single-family area looks familiar to Alan and Elizabeth Lineberger.

“When we first visited in January,” Alan said, “there wasn’t much out here except for the models and a few homes under construction. Just like Phase II looks now.”

The Linebergers were eager to return to Texas after a job promotion had taken the couple from Houston to San Diego.

The first tenants for The Shops at Lakeside — including three locally owned restaurants — were announced last night at Flower Mound’s Town Hall by Jimmy Archie, managing director of Realty Capital, master developer of Lakeside DFW.

“Our goal has been to deliver what the residents of Flower Mound requested,” explained Archie, “and that is bringing a mix of unique restaurants and businesses to Lakeside, not the typical chains.   

“We are proud of the fact that all eleven of our initial tenants are owner-operated or locally owned businesses.”

Shepards feel like Lakeside has it all

“We love to walk around the neighborhood,” explained Roland Shepard of his strolls around Lakeside with wife Lynn, “but we usually don’t get very far before we start talking with neighbors.”

The Shepards’ painted yellow brick villa sits on Northwood just off Surrey and faces a triangular park that is nearly completely enclosed with new homes.

“It’s really looking like a neighborhood now,” said Shepard, who was the first homebuyer to sign a contract on a Darling villa at Lakeside in August 2013. “It’s come a long way in just a year.

Comments on Lakeside DFW’s on-line dining survey continue to illustrate the interest, passion, and expectations area residents have for the dining experience coming to The Shops at Lakeside in Phase I. (The first four buildings are expected to open in early 2015.)

“Community input has guided many aspects of planning Lakeside DFW,” said Jimmy Archie, managing partner of Realty Capital, master developer of Lakeside DFW. “And the opinions expressed in the dining surveys have been a gold mine.”

Since the survey was opened in November 2013, 695 respondents have taken to the survey and, of those, approximately 450 have taken the time to add comments.
