Mark McLaughlin, director of operations for The Moviehouse & Eatery, provided a thorough tour of the construction site at Lakeside this week.

“We think the exterior profile will be outstanding,” he said standing in front of the building. “The entrance makes a big impression.”

Inside, he shared details of improvements and tweaks incorporated into the building based on the company’s experience in operating its other two locations in Austin and Keller.

He expects the theater to open to the public in July, in the middle of the busy summer season.

“When the shops and restaurants start to open over the next few months,” smiled 28-year-old Orlando Rojas as he stood at the northeast corner of Northwood and Lakeside near his Lodge Barbershop storefront, “things will look very different.”

“Each shop owner is pouring a lot of work into their store to make their business,” Rojas added, “and Lakeside, special.”

He expects the Lodge to open in April.

Since January, Henry Nguyen has been spending lots of hours supervising the finish-out of his new Majestic Nail Spa in The Shops at Lakeside.

getting2knowSHOPS-Majestic“It’s going to have a modern feel customers will love,” said Nguyen as he stood in the large as yet unfinished space in Building Two that features large windows facing both FM 2499 and the parking lot in back.

In addition to lots of natural light, the Lakeside space also stands out for its tall ceilings, from which Nguyen will hang his signature chandeliers.

Jay Basantkumar was accompanying a friend who was house-hunting in October 2013, when he became intrigued.

“Holy cow!” he told his friend as they drove through Lakeside, “I didn’t know this kind of place existed.”

It didn’t seem to matter that Basantkumar and his family of four were happily situated in a 4,300-square-foot home in Trophy Club.
