Comments on Lakeside DFW’s on-line dining survey continue to illustrate the interest, passion, and expectations area residents have for the dining experience coming to The Shops at Lakeside in Phase I. (The first four buildings are expected to open in early 2015.)
“Community input has guided many aspects of planning Lakeside DFW,” said Jimmy Archie, managing partner of Realty Capital, master developer of Lakeside DFW. “And the opinions expressed in the dining surveys have been a gold mine.”
Since the survey was opened in November 2013, 695 respondents have taken to the survey and, of those, approximately 450 have taken the time to add comments.
In January, officials from Realty Capital, Flower Mound, and Lakeside DFW Land Ltd. traveled to Austin to tour The Moviehouse & Eatery.
Mark McLaughlin, director of operations for the upscale dine-in theater company, served as their guide.
“I was explaining to them that many of our customers regularly drive 20-30 miles to get here,” remembered McLaughlin. “I’m not sure they bought it.”
Who’s coming to The Shops at Lakeside?
“That’s a question we are hearing a lot,” laughed Jimmy Archie, managing partner of Realty Capital, master developer of Lakeside DFW.
The interest is coming from those moving into the new homes at Lakeside as well as from the 60,000+ who daily drive by the corner of Lakeside and FM 2499.
The buildings at the intersection of FM 2499 and Lakeside reached their full height this month.
But the real sizzle at Lakeside, according to town planner Dan Quinto, lies around the corner from 2499’s 60,000-plus vehicles per day.
“The action will take place behind the front buildings, where the pedestrians will be protected from the traffic on 2499,” said Quinto, “on the sidewalks, in the pocket parks, at the outdoor restaurants, and on the Lakeside Trail.”
