Manny Trevino will take the stage tonight at the Lakeside Music Series at 7:30 pm when temperatures are expected to be around 98 degrees.
“I’m good to go!” said Trevino, an alumnus of Flower Mound Marcus HS, as he lobbied to play regardless of the heat. Decisions to cancel a show due to excessive heat are made largely to safeguard our talented musicians. So Trevino’s request was granted.
“My folks in the area are all people who workout outside and don’t mind the heat,” he added.
For those planning to attend, please take the normal precautions. Prepare by drinking more water than you would otherwise. Avoid alcoholic, sugary or caffeinated drinks, since they dehydrate the body. And wear lightweight and light-colored clothing. Monitor those who are more vulnerable to the heat, especially older and very young individuals.
For next week’s performance by Monson & Bailey, the weather is expected to be far cooler, with a high of 83. But there’s a chance of rain.
