Work on a one-acre dog park at Lakeside is expected to begin in the next week, according to officials at Realty Capital, master developer of Lakeside DFW.
The site is located just east of the central roundabout at the intersection of Edgemere and Lakeside Parkway, adjacent to the wooded area fed by a creek.
Enclosed by iron fencing and surrounded by the Lakeside Trail, the park will include several entrances and offer picnic tables and benches for pet owners.
Use of the dog park will be for Lakeside residents only. A set of rules and regulations for dog owners is currently being drafted.
Many trees in the area, including some adjacent to the creek and along the trail, have been lighted to provide security and add to the area’s beauty after sunset.

The red star indicates the location of the dog park that will be constructed in the detention basin.
According to Rebecca Everitt, development associate with Realty Capital, the park is expected to open in December.
The area was initially dedicated solely as a detention basin, a requirement of the town when a new property is developed.
The area is designed to detain storm run-off from the newly developed property so it does not adversely impact neighboring properties.
“Members of the community hoped this space could be used for another purpose,” said Jimmy Archie, managing partner of Realty Capital.
“We explored a number of options,” he explained.
“We concluded that a dog park would be popular and provided an amenity that could survive flooding without suffering any real damage.”

Is the Dog Park opened yet? It appears the fence was completed, but there hasn’t been any official announcement that it’s now opened.

Every neighborhood in FM requires an HOA. So everyone pays a monthly or annual fee to keep up parks and common areas. I am sure Lakeside residents make use of the park in Woodlake Estates. It would be ashamed if an iron fence had to be put up so only certain residents could use it. You want people to visit Lakeside and spend money at the retail businesses there then you should open up the dog park to everyone as well.

Then perhaps we in the adjoining neighborhoods should block Lakeside owners the right to use our facilities, like walking their dogs and using the parks, just saying! What a way to encourage us to recommend Lakeside to our friends and family!

Great to hear there’s going to be a dog park at Lakeside, sad to hear that it’s only going to be for your residents. We live in an adjacent neighborhood to Lakeside where your residents walk their dogs, get access to the North Shore Trails & the lake. Sure would be nice and neighborly if the dog park was open to all neighbors.

Really, just for lakeside residents! What’s next you going to charge road tolls for people driving the streets in lakeside ? We live just west of lakeside down by the lake and maybe all the Lakeside residents should not use any part of Grapevine lake property ! Thought parks are used to bring people together and enjoy the outdoors ! Not sewerage and divide people ! But you are doing a great job of that !

Hi! I’m not one to usually respond to others comments, but this bugs me a bit. The Grapevine Lake Property is not owned by any neighborhood, and has people from all over accessing it. It’s not really fair to recommend residents from Lakeside be excluded from this treasure because you can’t access Lakeside’s neighborhood dog park. Lakeside residents pay $600 annually for HOA which I assume will be used to build and maintain the dog park. If your community had a pool or something as such your HOA fees were allocated to, it wouldn’t be expected for others outside that community to use it, right? Lastly, Lakeside has been putting on a free concert since the Summer every Friday night inviting all residents no matter where they reside to come and enjoy. It’s been a great way to meet people within or outside the community. This is the complete opposite of the accusation this community divides people. I do hope you come before the music series ends, and experience it for yourself. 🙂

Yay! We can’t wait!
