Dining survey comments, Dec. 2013 – Feb. 2014
Grimaldis, Jersey Mikes, Twisted Root Burger, Pappa Bros, Corner Bakery
Patio would be great. Fish and sushi options would be a nice addition.
Love Meddlesome Moth in uptown Dallas, as well as Hop Doddys.
We need more upscale and interesting dining options in FM. Enough with the Chilli’s TGI Fridays, etc. You have a group of residents who appreciate and will pay for good dining options. Today we go to Southlake and surrounding areas because FM doesn’t have enough options and far too many fast food and chain restaurants. This income in this area can support a much better set of restaurants and retail if you will give it to them. Also more healthy options that include gluten free, vegetarian, etc. If you’re going to do more casual dining, consider options like Zoe’s Kitchen, great healthy food. We need a Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s in FM as well as a decent wine shop and an REI.
Jasper’s, Seasons52, Gordon birsch, Twisted Root, Gingerman, Capital Grille. Good food, bars and entertainment desperately needed. Lakeside would be premium spot.
Lockhart Smokehouse and Summer Moon — wood-fired coffeehouse.
Healthy foods will be a big draw in my opinion. BJ’s Brewhouse seems to have a mix of everything as well as a place people like to congregate.
Sushi, Mexican
Please, please, please bring healthy dining options to FM. Seasons 52 would be a fabulous addition!
Tapas restaurant, like Sangria’s in Dallas. I can’t think of any popular ones in our area.
Chipotle or Qdoba would be nice too.
Cheesecake factory, Bahama breeze, Thai, Indian
Family friendly brewery or sports bar is missing in Flower Mound
Pepe and Mitos Mexican Food, Ill Cane Rosa, Pecan Lodge BBQ, Hula Hut, Blue Corn Harvest, Rudys, Blue Mesa, Brittish Beverage Company, Cavalis, Tillmans, Hatties
Houston’s, Babe’s Fried Chicken Restaurant, Cheesecake Factory (FM needs our own – a pain to get to Southlake), Paappadeaux, Fireside Pies, Mercy Wine Bar (w/live music please), Birraperettis (Arlington), Iron Cactus, Twisted Root, Baker’s Rib BBQ, Lockhart’s Smokehouse (Bishop Arts District), Claim Jumper (have these all over CA), Rubios Fish Tacos (all over CA- very good & inexpensive), Toulouse French (Knox Henderson), Bonnie Ruth’s French Bistro, Rise (souffle restaurant Dallas), Old Monk Irish Pub, Breadwinners, Melting Pot fondue restaurant, tapas bars with a shady patio and live music, places with patios and live music in general, Dream Cafe healthy foods, BJ’s, Cheddars. Really NEED some of these places in FM. Brunch spots where they offer specialty or signature foods you can eat on an outdoor patio would be great. Raw food/juice bars.
Cheddars, Japan House, Osaka, Toyko One
starbucks, bowling and skating places
california pizza kichen, panera
I SO wish we could get a California Pizza Kitchen and/or a Taco Diner in Flower Mound.
Love the Cafe Express in Southlake. Fresh made food with so many options plus coffee bar, wine and beer. Fast but delicious. Salads, burgers, soups, breakfast, lunch, dinner. Covers so many bases. Delicious, great prices, relatively fast, but more like dining than typical fast food. Serves all types of clientele.
Unique foods, startups, bring new flavor to Flower Mound. My vision of the future is dining at a restaurant right off the lake sitting a table with a view chilling with people I know. The atmosphere is just as important as the food so I hope there will be plenty of dining opportunities lining the lake front.
Green Papaya on Oak Lawn, Twisted Root Burger in Dallas/Roanoke/Frisco, Blue Fish Sushi in Irving
Seasons 52, Cowboys Chicken, Pie Five, Central Market, The Shell Shack, Taco Diner, Sambuca 360, Benihana, Village Burger Bar, Pure health lounge
Cowboys Chicken, Pie Five, Central Market, The Shell Shack
We need quality restaurants and non-chain restaurants. There are plenty of chains and fast food in Flower Mound and few fine dining choices. There are also very few locally owned and unique choices which would be a good addition to Lakeside.
Olive Garden, please.
Maggiano’s
Love the idea of casual places, but NO fast food, please!!! I would enjoy something like Twisted Root, Au Bon Pain, Smash Burger, a good Korean BBQ joint, something with nice vegetarian options or anything similar to what you would get at a farm to table food truck in downtown Dallas or Austin. I think with the FM audience, a good farm to table place with REAL, whole foods could be quite successful… casual or FULL.
Blue Fish, Mattitos Mexican, Sfuzzi, California Pizza Kitchen
Cracker Barrel, Trulucks, Del friscos, Olive Garden
Houstons, cheesecake factory, cane rosso, cheddars, kennys woodfired, hopdoddy, tillmans
Would love to have a few places where I can take prospective clients to lunch and dinner with out blasting music.
Hopdoddy – AMAZING burger, Eddie V’s – Great Steak / Seafood, Chick-fil-A – A must, Andalous – Great Greek food
A family owned nice upscale breakfast place that offers great breakfast during the week and brunch on Sunday.
Babes, or some other good non-franchised restaurant. No more Chili’s, Olive Garden, Red Robin, El Chicho all-tastes-the-same type restaurants. We have plenty of those.
Need a great breakfast place( breadwinner)….a good fast casual chinese restaurant- Bookstore —-solata
Cheddars, Pluckers, Campisi’s, Longhorn Steakhouse
We have enough low to mid range chains in FloMo. Would like to see some trendy establishments like Blue Mesa, Gingerman but mostly would like to encourage upscale independents.
Going to restaurants is not an everyday occurrence for my wife and me. Therefore, we enjoy going to restaurants that offer something different, something special like signature foods from different countries. These tend to be a little more “upscale” in price and service. I would like to see Lakeside become known for its community of restaurants specializing in international.
Babe’s, Uncle Julios, Macaroni Grill, Razoo’s, Esparza’s, Gloria’s, Jaspers
Must have something ethnic – sushi, thai, mediterranean, Mi Cocina or Taco Diner, Bread Zeppelins, Breadwinners, La Duni, Good mom&pop pizza and NY Deli – like NYPD in Euless
I live in uptown but work in Flower mound- (off of lakeside “Stryker””). If a small nightlife and a couple of good bars and restaurants could be built into the development. I know many of my colleagues would consider moving to lakeside DFW”
There is a Sweetie Pies Rib-eye’s in Decatur. They are owned by the Babes Chicken family Another outpost of this restaurant in Flo Mo would be a guaranteed success. Even if it is BYOB!
Kenichi sushi, , Bonnell’s, Bella italia west, Lilli’s on Magnolia, Del Friscos
I suggest a concept like Shops of Legacy which I go to a lot. Nice mix of restaurants and upscale shopping & services. Favorite restaurants outside the areas cited include: Tei Tei Robata, Sushi Sake, Mexican Sugar, Jaspers, Henry’s Tavern, Gloria’s, Blue Fish, Cristina’s.
Nespresso Boutique and cafe. You get two in one. A cool coffee house, plus the purchase of very good espresso machines and espresso capsules. Do this quick, before one is located in “The Shops of Highland Village”
Chipotle, olive garden, longhorn steakhouse, Glorias
We need good reliable chains – Brio, Chessecake Factory, PF Changs, City Grill, etc.
Tin Star or Rusty’s Tacos; Twisted Root; Paradise Bakery; Not as many big chains; family friendly restaurants.
Unique places – something that will make people want to come to this place versus somewhere else – such as Highland Village, Southlake, Roanoke or even Dallas Uptown and Bishops Arts district. A really good deli and a really good pizza place would be nice. Good but not crazy expensive, somewhere you wouldn’t mind eating a couple time of week. A unique coffee shop. A unique burger place – not fast food. Unique ice cream place. A movie theater to draw crowds to the retail and restaurants. A bar / pub with great beer selection and place to play pool and darts maybe live music. Some Asian/Mediterranean places – Thai , Vietnamese, Turkish, Greek. I am going to be living there, so it would be great to be able to walk to all of this!
We need more natural, locally sourced, healthy food options in Flower Mound. Good vegetarian options are sorely lacking in our area.
I prefer a European feel of trattorias, preferably family-owned or chef-run businesses for a unique experience.
Would love unique high end dining like in bishop arts district. Traditional chains such are over done in the market. Additionally, unique bars/lounges offering live music and original cocktails is a definite must considering there is not anything like that in Flower Mound.
Tin Star, Velvet Taco, Cosmic Cafe, anything fun that is not a national chain.
glorias mexican is a huge one! papadeux, saltgrass, bjs brewery, terellies italian
indian and asian and american restaurants would be a great choice as many home buyers in and around this community are from india and other asian countries
Looking forward to a new variety of eating establishments. We are excited to have Lakeside as a place to dine with family and friends.
Here are a few of our favorites: Fireside pies, Upper Crust…(downtown plano upper floor bar is so cool), Taverna or Cafe Taluose off Knox, Hopdoddy Hamburgers awesome , Lucia Italian…Bishop Arts District, A local brewery? Nice upscale restaurants.. no large national chains. My wife and I are building a Darling Villa in Lakeside on Surrey Lane and love Coffee and restaurants that we can hangout at the bar with a TV. We have lived in Flower Mound since 1990 and are now empty nesters. Over the past few years we have made the drive to Dallas or Plano to shop for groceries…usually Whole Foods and have coffee at a local coffee shops…not Starbuck, even though we do like Starbucks. We are hoping for the above once we move in.
Organic food!
Torchy’s Tacos, Twisted Root Burger, along with healthier options, or even a whole foods store!
planning on access to restaurants from boat?
While we understand and appreciate the desire for “family dining Flower Mound really needs to entertain the idea of a few more places adults and couples can go enjoy – sans the chaos of children. I think many parents would appreciate that. Perry’s Steakhouse and Twisted Root
Park tavern and Snappy Salads
Would love to see a Morton’s Steakhouse. Fast food is not upscale in my opinion. To duplicate what you can get close by would be a big mistake.
Buttons
Flower Mound needs some live music and a place for adults to hang out and play some pool.
Taco Villa
La Duni and La Madeline
breadwinners
In/out burger, Starbucks, Chipotle, Panda express, Chili’s
Babes chicken, taco diner, kinkaids, freebirds, taco bueno
Cedar’s Woodfire Grill, Whiskey Cake, Cane Rosso
Would love a Cheesecake Factory, Lazy Dog Cafe, Panera. All are currently too far from central Flower Mound.
We need a fun family atmosphere but with a focus on the business community especially for the increased tourism in the area. A smaller hotel with less emphasis on a convention center but more focus on “meeting space”. Remember this hotel could attract many demographics so it is important that it appeals to the business traveler and local residents who want to get away without being overwhelmed by a huge convention center.
I would prefer independent restaurants opposed to chains.
Whiskey cake, Eno’s pizza, Ascension
Charleston’s, In-n-Out Burger, Houston’s, Sweet Tomatoes
Mexican Sugar, whiskey cake
Coffee shop a must. Also an adult oriented restaurant preferably Italian. A wine bar would be cool too. No fast food chains. Can’t wait to be moving there summer 2014 ….. kids now in college.
Seasons 52, Capital Grille, Village Burger Bar, Seafood, Chinese (not sushi), Italian are among our favorite foods. Casual to elegant.
Indian Restaurant / Bistro
Cheesecake Factory, Pei Wei, Chuy’s, Pappadeaux, BJ’s, Cheddars, Paneras, Ruby Tuesdays.
Cowboy Chicken, Full Moon Cafe (Tulsa), Hideaway Pizza (Tulsa), Houston’s, III Forks
A mixture of upscale and casual dining would be wonderful. Include restaurants with Gluten Free options please! Outdoor dining overlooking the lake along with a dock for your boat would be advantageous. Hopefully your plans will include a place for folks to stroll along the waters edge.
Papasitos. Lake view dining and bars
Would like to see more unique dining options versus chains. Places that offer food from local farmers, free range poultry, grass fed beef and wild caught seafood. Favorite places outside the area; Potager Cafe in Arlington, Celebration in Dallas and Savory Bistro in Bartonville.
No chains!!!! I love visiting restaurants like Bolsa in Dallas.
Pappas Brothers, Maggiano’s
On the Border Mexican Grill, Pei Wei (with patio dining), Chuy’s Mexican Restaurant, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Taco Cabana, California Pizza Kitchen. Please provide many patio dining options…we love to dine outside.
It’s very important for the value and perception of this area being upscale to avoid chain restaurants such as chilis and other low class places and retailers.
La Duni
Need outside dining where we can bring our bikes & dog. HEALTHY OPTIONS PLEASE!!! Need a place where we can park our bikes securely. A breakfast option would be great for weekend brunches.
Would love casual outdoor dining/cafe type places that would be easy to bicycle to with the family and dog. The numerous mountain bikers the north shore trails attract will appreciate casual outdoor dining for refueling with a beer and good food, even if they’re a little too dirty to feel comfortable inside a restaurant. Along those same lines, we should have plenty of healthy options to support all the outdoor/fitness enthusiasts that live around and visit the area.
corner bakery,bonefish,bbq,cheesecake
La Duni
An indoor/outdoor walkable experience would be awesome with live music bars/restaurants. Places with patios for outdoor enjoyment. Kind of a European feel would be unique. Steak place like Nick and Sams or Bobs. Also a nice seafood place would be great. An Irish pub would be nice or a brewery like Gordon Biersch. Capriottis Sandwich Shop is awesome and would be great. Places like Cheesecake Factory, Saltgrass or Pei Wei (chains) would be terrible in a place like this in my opinion.
Please do not make this a venue for low end restaurants we have those up and down 2499 and in the mall in Grapevine. Look at Southlake Town Square and the Shops at Legacy for good examples of a mix ranging from sandwich shops to high end steak houses. Legacy especially seems to mirror more the feel that will take place in lakeside.
Pappaeaux … A good seafood restaurant. Greens (good salads)
We want La Duni!!!!
A good steak/chop house and a good seafood restaurant as anchors and draws. International food offerings would be great other than Mexican (I love Mexican but how many do you need?). La Dune was mentioned — a good option. I agree, you do need a blend. I don’t always have time for a FULL meal. Good coffeeshop. I know there are plenty of Starbucks in the area, but a place you can walk to in Lakeside would be good for the residents and drive-bys. Good Luck. It’s all very exciting and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Ruth’s Chris
Healthy Food options, Ethnic foods like Thai, Chinese, Indian, Greek, etc., Mix of FULL and fast casual NO fast food. Unique, non-chain restaurants, Outside dining options
Pappasitos
Anything that is fresh, healthy.. focus on organic, local would be great. Love True Food Kitchen and Snappy Salad
Chuy’s, Campisi’s, Capriotti’s. Something like YO Steakhouse, Hoffbrau’s or The Palm in the West End District of Dallas
I visited a fabulous little Italian place in Allen, PaneVino. An ideal bistro with a nice atmosphere, small and quaint. I actually approached the owner and told them about Lakeside and requested that they make an effort to open another location out our way. He told me that they have heard about Lakeside and are looking into it. We walked to a concert at the event center afterwards. Something we would enjoy doing at Lakeside.
Café Izmir – Lower Greenville, Pappas
Panera, Lou Malnati’s, Portillos, Bueno Beef, Maggianos
Rise, Jorges, The Grape, Houston’s,Lavendou
We need a torchy’s over here. It would go over like gangbusters. Also, there isn’t a single good beer spot in the whole of lewisville/flower mound/highland village. We need a good craft beer joint. It would also go over quite well.
Chuy’s, Flying Saucer, Nicola’s ( Shops at Legacy), Lockhart Smokehouse ( Bishop Arts). I added Flying Saucer because I think the area could really benefit from a place that focuses on craft beers. Southlake was able to add Gingerman, but something like a Flying Saucer or Holy Grail ( Plano) would be a great asset. Craft beer establishments also tend to host a much more laid back crowd compared to the rowdiness that tends to accompany some of the major sports bars. They also tend to spend more. Just my two cents.
Glorias and Mi Cocina
Abuelos
Can’t wait until it is complete.
