When Lilly Windwood and Chris Monteverde appeared on Fox4 News on Thursday, June 6, at around 9:50 am., the Lakeside Music Series received a well-deserved acknowledgement as a music venue.
“Local musicians want to play here because the ambiance is so nice and the audiences listen and appreciate their performances,” said Michael Clay, who books bands for the series.
While both Winwood and Monteverde currently operate out of Nashville (where they met in a bar), both have roots elsewhere.
Winwood, the 21-year-old daughter of rock legend Steve Winwood (her mother is from Tennessee), moved to Nashville from England four years ago while Monteverde hails from Austin.
Winwood brings “Bonnie Raitt’s world-weary vocals, My Morning Jacket’s ethereal twang, and Brittany Howard’s no-BS bravado” to her music (according to Charlie Hickerson of Nashville).
Monteverde was named CMA of Texas Rising Star for 2015 and was more recently awarded “best Americana act” at the Roswell film and music festival in May 2017 and CMA of Texas album of the Year 2017.
Together, they have something special and they’re traveling America to prove it.
