Remy Reilly, DFW’s 17-year-old musical phenom, performs in the the plaza of The Shops at Lakeside for the first time on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 pm.
Inspired by artists like ZZ Ward, Norah Jones, and The Cure, Reilly performs an indie-pop repertoire featuring tunes by Fleetwood Mac, Amy Winehouse, and Michael Jackson.
Remy recorded her first EP at 14, tackling topics like bullying and self-love.
“Remy’s songs are really next level,” said Josh Fleming, frontman of the alt-country band, The Vandoliers. “She is going to do great things.”
On that first EP back in 2018, it took Reilly just two takes to nail the powerful vocals on her composition “26.”
“Hearing her sing [in the studio] for the first time,” said producer Jason Burk in an interview with D Magazine in 2018, “was mind-blowing. She has mad range.”
And she’s not just a singer. She plays guitar, piano, and drums.
“I see her being that musician onstage who plays every instrument,” said Burk.
She has played some of the area’s most iconic stages, including the Kessler Theater in Oak Cliff, and teamed up with DFW luminaries such Ryan Berg, Kirk Thurmond, and the Vandoliers.
“When I found music it did shorten the kid things that I do,” Reilly told D Magazine. “Nothing went away but I am serious about this. It’s my career. But I’m having fun.
“I just love the adrenaline onstage.”
