The new 6,000 sf plaza overlooking Lake Grapevine is expected to become a popular gathering spot for residents and visitors to Lakeside DFW.
Construction will commence on a 6,000 sf lake-view plaza this week, according to officials with Realty Capital, master developer of Lakeside DFW.
Located at the southern tip of the Lakeside Boardwalk (click here for a map), the lake-view plaza will offer visitors views of Lake Grapevine.
“The plaza will extend approximately 80 feet toward the lake from the boardwalk,” explained Rebecca Everitt, a development associate with Realty Capital.
“The views of the water are beautiful from this spot,” she added.
The plaza’s three-level design features lots of open space, seating (benches plus tables and chairs), planters, and trees.

The decking of the plaza will be built from Douglas Fir from Oregon (the same wood used on the Boardwalk’s bridge, 240 yards to the north).
Four planters will be filled with verbenas, loropetalums, pink muhlys, and crepe myrtles. The design calls for bench seating to be attached to the planters on the lake-view side.
The existing trees on the site (four cedar elms and one ash) will be lit as will the steps between levels to make the plaza safe and enjoyable after sunset.
To make the walk to the plaza more pleasant, a six-foot wide swath of sod will be laid and irrigated along the quarter-mile length of the boardwalk from Edgemere to the new plaza.
Construction is expected to take approximately four months to complete.
Mark DeMoss says
Construction on the plaza is moving along very nicely. The plaza decking is being installed now. I use the boardwalk 3 times a week and am looking forward to enjoying the plaza when it is complete. Thank you for making this beautiful amenity in our Lakeside DFW community.
