This 2014 ESRI ranking of DFW’s wealthiest zip codes often startles people. It is especially surprising to those who aren’t familiar with the communities that sprung up around the north exit of DFW Airport beginning in the eighties (the airport became operational in 1974). The growth of those communities over the last 40 years has been meteoric, and much of that growth has been uniformly affluent. Accustomed to long commutes and drives, residents of these zip codes are well within the 20-minute Lakeside trade area.
