Scenic DFW destination wins love from out-of-town executives

A 40-something California executive laughed when he had been told of a scenic DFW destination for an upcoming business conference. But when separating the curtains in his room at the Hotel Miramar on a mild April morning, he stopped to drink in the miles of shimmering blue water. “Am I really in Dallas-Fort Worth?” he asked himself. Having attended numerous national conferences throughout the Metroplex over the years, he hardly recognized this scenic side of DFW.

Convenience certainly wasn’t a problem. His meetings were scheduled for a meeting room in the hotel. 

On a jog on the Lakeside Boardwalk he discovered the trailhead to the Northshore Trail, which he explored briefly. On his return to the hotel, he inquired about renting a mountain bike for the following morning. 

At breakfast, he overlooked a green in front of the hotel with trees and water in the distance.

The spacious private meeting rooms in the hotel also included access to a club called Eden Rock that offered spectacular views of Sunset Blvd., the lake, and people everywhere enjoying themselves. 

So after a day’s worth of conferencing, he met a couple of colleagues at Eden Rock Club. From here, they absorbed the views and began to consider which of the many restaurants below would suit them for dinner. After some haggling, they chose the informal burger spot with a patio facing Lake Grapevine and the amphitheater. They hoped they might hear some live music.

Several agreed to meet in the morning for a ride on the Northshore Trail. And all agreed that next year’s conference belonged in Lakeside Village after finding, at long last, a scenic DFW destination.
