Lots to do at Lakeside the weekend of July 15-17

Enjoy the fun at the grand opening of Giant Lakeside this weekend. Fun, prizes and even beer tasting. Festivities Friday thru Sunday.

Lakeside will be buzzing this weekend. Try the new Starbucks or enter to win a bike at the grand opening of Giant Lakeside.

Or try the happy hour (5-7) at Carvao’s Prime Brazilian Steakhouse before you enjoy pianist Brian Holland at the Summer Music Series.

You also might sample the home decor and floral items from Bloom-A-Round, the jewelry and dresses at Briesly’s Boutique and Hello Daffodil.

The biggest news this weekend has to be the grand opening of Giant Lakeside. Call it a giant grand opening.

Brian Holland will perform jazz, ragtime, boogie, and blues at Friday night’s installment of the Summer Music Series (5-7 pm).

You may have seen the tents set up to showcase the 2017 line of Giant bikes for dealers from around the company’s central region. You’ll see those dealers test-driving the new models all weekend.

You also are invited as well to demo the new models as well as check out the huge sale items, enter to win prizes, win a Momentum Bike, and participate in the Tupp’s Brewery beer tasting (Friday, 5-7 pm).

Saturday, prizes will be raffled off all day and food trucks will keep you well fed from 12-2. At 4 pm, the grand prize drawing will be held for the Momentum Bike.

Sunday, more prizes plus a how-to clinic (1-3 pm). It’s all happening at Giant’s location on Lakeside Pkwy just east of Surrey.

Drive through or stop in at the new Starbucks that opened this week at Lakeside. Try the special reserve coffees!

The Summer Music Series continues Friday night, July 15, with pianist Brian Holland.

The winner of many awards, Holland performs a mix of jazz, ragtime, boogie, and blues. It will be the perfect ear candy for enjoying a beautiful evening on the Plaza.

If you need a jolt, try the new Starbucks that opened this week next to Moviehouse & Eatery. They’re open until 11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights (10 pm the rest of the week).
