Pop-up Holiday market, Snow Zone & more will entertain visitors to Holiday Event on Wednesday, December 6
Light your Christmas fire on Wednesday, December 6, 5-8 pm with the Lakeside Holiday Event in The Shops at Lakeside in southern Flower Mound. The holiday sights, sounds, and activities will warm the cockles of your Yuletide spirit.
The event features free horse-drawn carriage rides, photos with Santa, and the climactic lighting of Lakeside’s 30-foot Christmas tree in the plaza at 7:30 pm. Live holiday music will be provided by the Flower Mound High School choir and Magen Miller, who will mix in a few pop classics. It’s all free of charge.
Many of Lakeside’s shops and eateries will set up tables in front of their shops to offer free holiday treats or provide holiday-themed activities (including writing letters to Santa). Along the sidewalks, you’ll find face-painters, balloon and caricature artists, a toy train ride, plus a 360-degree selfie station (new this year).
Several more new attractions will garner attention as well. For the adults, a small pop-up Holiday market will include vendors offering “local handmade vintage fashion and artisan food.” The Boho Market is bringing the market, which will be located just north of the 30-foot Christmas tree, to Lakeside.
The Snow Zone will set up an eight-foot snow slide and an adjoining 30’ x 24’ snow play area directly across Lakeside Parkway from the 30-foot Christmas tree. All courtesy of Emergency Ice.
More winter fun awaits at the event’s skating rink that will be located on the western end of the parkway, near Personal Eyes and Trailhead Running Supply.
A skating rink outdoors in Texas? The 30’ x 40’ skating rink is made from a polymer plastic that acts like a kitchen cutting board. Lightly treated with a non-toxic ‘skating enhancer,’ skates glide across the surface like they do on ice. It’s brought to you by Classic Holiday Ice.
In the park adjoining Urban Vybe, you’ll find Imagination Station, where kids can don the costumes and outfits of their favorite characters — giving them the chance to act and interact as princesses and super heroes. The novel experience is being offered by Rebel Theatrics, which strives to help teens embrace theater as a “transformative experience that shapes character and enriches lives.”
Look for the free horse-drawn carriages rides to start from a location between Mena’s Tex-Mex Grill & Cantina and Urban Vybe.
This year’s Holiday Event organizers Kelly Vance and Sarah Brown of Realty Capital (ably filling the shoes of new mother Abbey Glass) have managed to grow the event by generating an additional 44 percent in sponsorship funds.
The roster of sponsors for the 2023 Holiday Event grew to 17, and includes traditional supporters like First United Bank and Texas Bank & Trust. New sponsors include GDS Wealth Management (which recently opened in Lakeside Village) and lead sponsor, Archer Western, the construction company building 3111 Sunset, the luxury residential tower going up in Lakeside Village.
“Archer Western is proud to be the lead sponsor of the Lakeside Holiday Event,” said Alex Smith, project manager of 3111 Sunset. “As a new member of the Lakeside family, Archer Western looks forward to further contributing to the development of the Lakeside community through the 3111 Sunset apartments (expected completion: 2025).”
