As we slip a rain-soaked September into the record books, let’s turn to the upcoming eight weeks of the Lakeside Music Series.
This two-month period includes some of the most dynamic performers that have been booked during the music event’s three-year history.
The October lineup begins with Jason Maxwell whose repertoire features artists ranging from Maroon 5 and Jack Johnson to John Mayer and Jamiroquai.
Don’t be surprised if Elvis and Sinatra make an appearance during Maxwell’s two hours. He is a master of a variety of vocal stylings.
Gordon and Christy McLeod of McLeod Nine play what they describe as swingy, stringy, funky, folky roots music.

What to look
for this fall
Dress shops open
Ladies: Check out Hello Daffodil and Briesly’s Boutique. Both shops will remain open until 9 pm during the Lakeside Music Series in October.
Consideration for audience
We ask parents to keep their children from playing ball or chase during performances.
An award-winning songwriter, Gordon plays a number of instruments, including fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and more. You’ll appreciate Christy’s infectious singing, songwriting, and musicianship (guitar and mandolin).
The third week of October will bring Holt & Stockslager to Lakeside with the talented singers’ best impression of Simon & Garfunkel.
Their harmonies enthusiastically honor the work of Paul Simon. (Some who saw Everly After at Mio Nonno on September 21 will recognize Stockslager.)
October winds down with Sebastian Valenzuela, his sixth appearance at Lakeside since July 2016 (and his second this season).
With a seemingly endless song list, Valenzuela plays tunes from the likes of The Beatles, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, and many more.
Singer-songwriter Kirk Thurmond brings his distinctive combination of soul, rock, R&B, and pop to Lakeside on November 2.
You will hear traces of Bill Withers, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, and even Steely Dan in Thurmond’s lyrics, musicality, melodies, and rhythms.
Chant Duplantier returns to Lakeside with bassist Jerry Smith Jr. for their third appearance at the Lakeside Music Series this year.
You’ll love Duplantier’s smooth voice and crazy guitar work on top of Smith’s funky bass lines on R&B standards from Otis Redding and Stevie Wonder to Hall and Oates and Steve Ray Vaughn.
An old country music vibe (with a Western swing edge) distinguishes The High-Tones (formerly The Blondettes).
With fiddle, lead guitar, bass/vocals, drums, vocals, The High-Tones’ standards, and originals feature outstanding musicianship and harmonies on tunes that range from rockabilly to old country to Motown.
The 2018 season comes to an end on Friday, November 23, with a Christmas show (including the lighting of our 30-foot tree in the plaza) that features Magen Miller and Jon Christopher Davis, two of our most popular acts.
A talented vocalist, pianist, and violinist, Miller rocks on tunes from the likes of Elton John, Amy Winehouse, and The 10,000 Maniacs.
With his “Lone Star Attitude®,” Davis’ high-energy Americana sound will light up the crowd.
