To guide you on a quick tour of the 80+ mixed-use acres being developed at Lakeside DFW, we’ve assembled a construction update with photos, video, and a short narrative.
Crews have completed the site work and utility installation for the Lakeside Moviehouse. Foundation work is now underway.
The first step in applying stucco to the front four buildings has begun. Workers are currently installing metal lath on Building 1. The lath helps the plaster cement adhere to the building.
The colorful Mediterranean-style tiles delivered over the summer will continue to sit on the roof tops until the process of applying stucco to the buildings is complete. That way, the five-color blend barrel tiles won’t be broken during the stucco process.
Meanwhile, work is proceeding on the interiors of the loft apartments.
In Building 1, loft apartments have been painted and are having doors installed and cabinetry delivered. In Building 2, workers are nearly finished taping and bedding the walls.
The retail spaces at street level will not begin the finish-out process until the buildings are “dried in” (i.e., water-proofed) and until all fire protection systems are in place. Only then will future tenants be allowed to finish out the retail spaces.
The extensive work required to transform Lakeside Parkway into a pedestrian-friendly retail street is nearing completion.
Construction officials with Greystar believe Lakeside Parkway between Northwood and the northern roundabout (including the intersecting Surrey Lane) will be open for traffic in late October.
Single-family residential occupies 48 of the 80+ acres now under construction at Lakeside.
In Phase 1, nearly all of the 119 lots are sold and a majority of those have homes are either occupied or nearing completion.
Finishing touches like street signs and street lights have been installed in Phase 2 of the single-family section where 70 lots are nearly ready for homebuyers to purchase.
In Phase 3, streets have been carved, utilities installed, and lots shaped. There is still some work to do before streets are poured.
A select number of lots in Phase 3 will back up to the Corps of Engineers’ property line and Lake Grapevine.

Any update on the progress of the construction? Any input on when we will find out what shops / retail / restaurants will be coming for the initial opening?

I am considering purchasing a home in Lakeside. However, I am concerned about the amount of parking available for the retail/lofts. Where will everyone park???? I am hesitant to buy because I don’t want tons of people parking on my residential street to go to the shops, their apartment etc.

Brett,
While the parking in the front of the buildings is mostly limited to slant-in spaces, ample parking is provided behind the mixed-use and apartment buildings.
Please see:

This latest video illustrates better than the September update how parking is tucked in behind buildings.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for your interest.
