8th annual Holiday Event to feature free carriage rides, photos with Santa, sledding, skating & more
Supercharge your family’s Christmas spirit at the Lakeside Holiday Event on Wednesday, December 4, 5:30-8:30 pm in The Shops at Lakeside Village (in southern Flower Mound).
Enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, photos with Santa, and the climactic lighting of Lakeside’s 30-foot Christmas tree in the plaza at 7:30 pm. Live holiday music will be performed by Magen Miller.
It’s all free of charge, from the face painters, sledding, and ballon artists to the caricature artists, skating, and toy train rides. In addition, Lakeside merchants will be offering free treats to passersby; feel free to step inside the stores and restaurants to browse, shop, or dine.
A segment of Lakeside Parkway will be blocked off this year, giving attendees significant room to enjoy the festivities and activities safely (note: Lakeside Parkway will be closed from 10 am to 10 pm on December 4).
Snow tubing down an eight-foot hill was so popular last year that a second hill will be added this December. This attraction, along with its 30’ x 24’ snow play area, will be located on the west side of Lakeside Parkway near Trailhead Running Supply. All courtesy of Emergency Ice.
The skating rink also will return to the Holiday Event. This year the rink will be located in the middle of the intersection of Northwood and Lakeside Parkway — not far from the Main Stage and the 30-foot Christmas Tree. (The 30’ x 40’ skating rink is made from a polymer plastic that acts like a kitchen cutting board. Lightly treated with a non-toxic ‘skating enhancer,’ skates glide across the surface like they do on ice. It’s brought to you by Classic Holiday Ice.)
Two bounce houses will be prominently located just east of Surrey Drive.
Plan to catch your horse-drawn carriage ride near Crystal Flower Health & Wellness (between Mena’s Tex-Mex Grill & Cantina and Urban Vybe). Two large carriages will be deployed this year, each carrying 10-12 passengers.
Holiday Event organizers Kelly Vance and Sarah Brown of Realty Capital have managed to continue the growth of the event thanks to the generosity of sponsors.
This year’s roster of sponsors includes traditional supporters like FirstService Residential, Kelly Hart, Whitley Penn, First United Bank and Texas Bank & Trust plus strong sponsors from last year, like Patterson Insurance, GDS Wealth Management (whose building proudly stands on Lakeside Village Blvd.) and Archer Western, the construction company building 3111 Sunset, the luxury residential tower that will be opening in Lakeside Village early next year. New sponsors include Cendera Bank, Los Caminos, Rattikin Title, Swinerton (builder of the underground parking garage in South Sunset), and Southlake General Contractors.
