Becky Middleton brings her powerful voice and moving vocals to the Lakeside Music Series on Friday, October 27, 7:30 – 9:30 pm.
“Her voice is a complete gift,” says Beau Bedford, the producer at Modern Electric Sound Recorder as well as the unofficial leader of the Texas Gentlemen.
“Becky has a one-of-a-kind vocal talent — just amazing pitch control. She’s really great for our local music scene.”
Known for many years as a studio and back-up singer, she emerged as a force on her own with her 2017 release of Break the Fever.
Her single, “I’m Still Here,” captures her soulful, sultry voice that was nurtured as the daughter of a music minister.
A fan of Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and Otis Redding, Middleton was inspired by a bad breakup that gave her the motivation to express herself.
“It’s a proper breakup album from beginning to middle to end,” she told the Dallas Observer in December 2016.
“It’s all the pain and anger and then coming out on the other side.”
Expect to hear covers by Aretha, Norah Jones, and Amy Winehouse.
