The Lakeside Music Series at The Shops at Lakeside branches out once again Friday night, September 9, 7-9 pm, this time through the acoustic “funk-pop” stylings of J.R. Byrd.
The graduate of the UNT jazz school is said to embody the “essence” of John Mayer, the improvisational quality of the Dave Matthews Band, and lyrical silliness of Jack Johnson.
His poignant, fresh, and bluesy melodies breathe life into his witty lyrics while channeling the stylistic influences of the revered jazz program in Denton.
“I admire songwriters like Jon Brion, Glen Phillips, and local Austin artist Bob Schneider,” Byrd said. “Sara Bareilles and Jason Mraz also have spoken to me.”
The Great Australian Meat Pie Co. food truck will be on site Friday night.
The Lakeside Music Series has offered audiences in the plaza at The Shops of Lakeside a range of musical styles, from country to ragtime to rock.
“We are committed to offering free music on Friday nights at The Shops at Lakeside,” said Jimmy Archie, managing partner of Realty Capital, master developer of Lakeside DFW, “at least through the second week in November.”
“And we plan to continue to bring a variety of musical styles.”
Jeff Jacobs, a talented keyboard player who has toured with Foreigner, Billy Joel, and others, performs on September 16. The food truck on site will be the ever-popular Cousins Maine Lobster.
And on September 23, Chaz Marie brings her sultry, smoky vocals to Lakeside (her scheduled appearance in August was rained out). The food truck has yet to be determined at this time.
As always, attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or portable chairs. If weather is threatening, check Facebook or Twitter.
