Life on Lakeside Parkway will buzz with energy and activities
The half-mile stretch of Lakeside Parkway that connects International Parkway (FM 2499) with the northern and central roundabouts will grow over time to become the heart of street life and commercial activity at Lakeside DFW.
It also will serve as a residential center, with flats and lofts located above the ground-floor commercial uses. Residents will be attracted by the energy of the street life and the security it offers (safety in numbers).
Pedestrian-friendly streetscape The existing six-lane Lakeside Parkway will be modified to create a non-threatening four-lane shopping street with slant-in parking in front of the shops.
The parkway’s narrower lanes and slant-in parking will slow cars so that people – and their activities – can blossom. Shade trees and wide sidewalks will promote the urge to stroll.
Comfortably sized buildings Structures along the Parkway will range from one to four stories in height. Some of the buildings may include office rather than residences.
Lots of interaction The buzz of Lakeside Parkway will be multiplied by the residents who live nearby. Those people will be walking from their homes, strolling onto the Parkway from one of the seven intersecting streets. Pedestrians will cris-cross another at the various intersections — friends will stop to chat, business associates will surprise one another, and strangers will bump into each other.
All if this activity and interactivity will contribute to the magic, safety, and livability of the parkway.
