Scarlett Deering and Joanna Barbera will give Lakeside listeners a taste of some fresh, new sounds brewing in Nashville.
The 26-year-old Deering, a veteran of several bands including the Denton-based rock band, Seryn, plays a variety of string instruments. She’ll play songs from her debut album, There Is A Moon, in which she fuses her classical string training and love of punk and indie rock.
Barbera’s wandering spirit shines through in her haunting folk tunes, influenced by all things ethereal — from religious studies to yoga. Her powerful prose are set to meandering guitar and violin harmonies. Her work has been featured on Austin NPR affiliate radio station KUTX, on TV shows on MTV, ABC and NBC, and internationally on Poland’s hit soap opera Na Wspólnej.
The pair will perform at Lakeside with Deering’s father, master string instrumentalist, Milo Deering (fresh from touring with Don Henley).
