“The Shops at Lakeside aren’t going to be a typical shopping center,” acknowledged Jimmy Archie, managing director of Realty Capital, master developer of Lakeside DFW.
“And nobody in Flower Mound wants them to be.”
The Shops are located on FM 2499, the primary north-south artery for much of Flower Mound, Highland Village, Lewisville, and Argyle. Over 60,000 vehicles per day pass by the site at the corner of Lakeside Parkway.
That much doesn’t distinguish the project from many area shopping centers.
But being an integral part of Lakeside DFW does.
The Shops, comprised of nearly 50,000 sq. ft. of commercial space, occupies the ground floor beneath loft apartments along Lakeside DFW’s pedestrian-oriented streets and treed sidewalks.
Lakeside’s urban feel blends nicely with its outdoor amenities that include views of Lake Grapevine, pocket parks, and the 3.5-mile Lakeside Trail that ties it all together.
Homebuyers are purchasing from a wide array of single-family housing products on lots from 30 to 60 ft. wide. The lofts, apartments, and town homes offered by Elan Lakeside have been leasing up with surprising speed.
Senior housing and a condo tower also appear to be strong possibilities in the coming years.
The trail will wind all the way through the project including a stretch with views over Lake Grapevine and an eighth-of-a-mile-long stretch through Lakewood Park.
The amenities and array of housing types are attracting a range of age groups — a blend of people that is expected to create an active and engaged community at Lakeside.
The Flower Mound community has been involved in this project for years and it is reaching new highs: nearly 700 have completed the on-line dining survey.
Archie and his team are hunting exceptional restaurants and restaurant concepts for the project, looking to bring a synergistic mix to enhance the Lakeside lifestyle.
“Input from the market has helped us in crafting and curating the project,” Archie added. “Everything at the Shops at Lakeside must be indigenous to the culture of the area and reflective of the neighborhoods’ needs.”
“Community support, like that shown by all those who completed the survey, speaks to what is special about Lakeside and Flower Mound,” he said.
