Choose between sidewalk cafes or lake-view restaurants
Restaurants will be located throughout Lakeside, from Lakeside Parkway near International Parkway all the way down to Lakeside Village.
Along the parkway, many restaurants are expected to feature sidewalk and/or outdoor seating to capitalize on the lively street scene.
One or two such restaurants are planned for Phase I near the corner of Lakeside and International Parkway (FM 2499). One is expected to be located directly across from a large green area that could be used as farmer’s market or small musical venue.
A series of restaurants (three to five) are planned on the southern end of the project, in Lakeside Village, where diners can enjoy views of the lake and the setting sun. Development on this part of the project will be determined by market forces and may not be constructed until 2015 or later.
Lake-view dining ranked atop the list of amenities most requested by Flower Mound residents (448 completed the survey conducted September 2011 – April 2012).
Before or after dinner, patrons will be able to jump on or off the Lakeside Trail. The trail extends all the way into the established neighborhoods to the north of Lakeside DFW.
Diners also may come to enjoy a show at the lake-view amphitheater that is planned to showcase musical and artistic performances.
North of the amphitheater, a lakeside park will attract informal gatherings, frisbee games, people-watching, and picnics.
On the acres set back from the lake, an urban village is planned with retailers occupying the ground floors with offices and residences above.
Development of the 150-acre project will begin at the north end, near the intersection of International Parkway (FM 2499) and Lakeside Parkway. It is expected to move west and south toward the northern and central roundabouts as the market dictates.
Some development in Lakeside Village is expected to begin in late 2014 and 2015.
Naturally, hotel development on either the Hines site or the site immediately south of the Hines site would expedite development in the village.
